Every professional website that’s successful has one thing in common: good web design. It is a simple fact about human nature that there is always one thing that gets noticed right away on a site. Visitors to your website will have some kind of impression within seconds of being on your site. There are tons of things that affect conversions, and one of the very first things is the impression they get after they arrive. The following article looks into what all factors that you need to keep in mind in order to get your site’s design right.

Proper Graphics: There should be absolutely no inconsistency when it comes to the graphics of your website, make sure you size/define all the graphics and images on your site correctly. This will help you make your site perform better and that will help it stand out from all of the others. The fact is, webpages that contain the right kind of graphics, which are highly consistent, will allow them to load quicker. Well defined graphics enhance the look and the performance of the website, which makes it work seamlessly across all browsers. Images that are well sized and will help the browsers have an easier time of working and make loading time faster. If you look around, most of the successful sites know how to keep their designs simple. But the final decision really depends on what your site will be about and what needs to be present. We will not say that simple is always the best way to go because a well organized site may look fine but be kind of busy. There are no absolutes with this one because we have seen great sites that were not really simple. Even when you’re using ads, ensure that it doesn’t look crowded, because that would only work against you. Besides this, creating a professional site is all about keeping things simple, so why complicate it?

You can see all kinds of examples of just about everything where people designed a site and then remembered they wanted to put content on it. The more artistic sites will use Flash, but we have a hard time appreciating Flash in most applications. The use of Flash may be acceptable for some kinds of sites, but it is a judgment call so we will not say, never use it.

There are speed of loading issues to think about, as well, if you are really determined to have Flash on your site. One easy solution is simply providing a link to a different page that does not contain Flash if you have a lot of content to display. So that is an alternative to Flash that you can provide if you are so inclined.

Website design is a vast and huge area of study, but you do not need to learn it all to make a great site that people love. You can always make changes to your site design, but it is generally not a good idea to make large changes.
